Israel launches massive attack on Lebanon, more than 30 dead including women and children
New Delhi. A scene of devastation once again emerged in the Middle East on Tuesday night, when Israel suddenly started attacks in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon. According to local people, within a few hours more than 180 attacks were carried out by Israel, the echo of which was heard far and wide. Amidst the continuous explosions, a huge orange cloud of fire and smoke was seen rising into the sky, which shook the entire area. There was chaos in many residential areas after the attacks. People were seen leaving their homes and running towards safe places. Eyewitnesses said that the darkness of the night was repeatedly flashed by the bright light of the explosions and the ground was felt shaking with each explosion.
According to local health officials, more than 30 people have died so far in this attack. The dead also included 4 children and 3 women. Apart from this, more than 40 people are said to be injured, many of whom are in critical condition. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals, where treatment is continuing. After the attacks, there is an atmosphere of tension and fear in the area. Relief and rescue teams are searching for people trapped under the debris, while many families are still trying to gather information about their loved ones.
Israel wreaked havoc in Lebanon
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that the military operation in Lebanon is being intensified. However, in the meantime it is not clear whether any possible ceasefire initiative with Iran will be able to stop the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah or not. Netanyahu said in the statement that the Israeli army has entered the field on a large scale and is consolidating its hold on strategic areas. He said that to ensure the security of the border areas of northern Israel, a security belt is being strengthened so that the people living there can be protected from attacks.
More than 100 Hezbollah positions were targeted
Meanwhile, fierce clashes were seen between the Israeli army and Hezbollah fighters around the Litani River in Lebanon. This area has been considered a center of tension between the two sides for a long time. The intensity of the attacks increased on Tuesday when Netanyahu authorized more offensive action against Hezbollah targets across Lebanon. The Israeli army claims that it targeted more than 100 Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon and the eastern Beqaa Valley overnight.
According to the army, these bases were being used to store weapons, run command centers and monitor attacks on northern Israel. According to Lebanon’s state news agency, 12 people were killed in an airstrike on the eastern village of Mashghara. Many members of the same family are said to be among those who died.
Heavy destruction in many areas of Lebanon
A security official associated with Israel said that the army has decided to deploy additional military forces on the Lebanon front. The officer, who did not want to be identified under rules, said that considering the situation, another battalion has been sent there. On the other hand, relief and rescue teams say that after the fierce air strikes that lasted overnight, huge devastation was seen in many areas of southern and eastern Lebanon. The work of evacuating people buried under the debris is continuing and so far about a dozen bodies have been recovered.
Lebanon and Israel will hold talks in Washington
The sudden increase in these attacks has been seen at a time when direct talks are proposed between the military delegations of Lebanon and Israel in Washington after three days. It is believed that this meeting can be important in reducing the increasing tension between the two countries. At the same time, Hezbollah has claimed that its fighters are targeting the Israeli army in the border areas of southern Lebanon and northern Israel. The organization has clearly said that the conflict will continue until Israel stops its daily air strikes and withdraws its troops from Lebanon.
