Karnataka Political Crisis: There may be a big game in Karnataka today, speculations about resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah intensifies
The biggest news of this time is coming out from the politics of Karnataka. Amidst the ongoing political turmoil in the state, a major decision can be taken today (Thursday) regarding the post of Chief Minister. There are speculations that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah may resign from his post, after which the way may be cleared for the coronation of Deputy CM DK Shivakumar. However, no official statement has come yet from Siddaramaiah or the Congress high command on this. A new twist came in the midst of this entire political drama, when the news came that the Governor of the state, Thawar Chand Gehlot, had suddenly left Bengaluru and gone to Mumbai. In such a situation, even if Siddaramaiah decides to resign, the situation may technically get a bit complicated due to the absence of the Governor. Governor suddenly left for Mumbai due to family emergency. According to a latest report of ‘India Today’, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot suddenly left for Mumbai on a flight at around 11:30 pm on Wednesday late night. Quoting sources, it is being told that there is some ‘family emergency’ (family reason) behind his sudden departure. However, the reason for this visit has not been made public by the Raj Bhavan. The most interesting thing is that the Governor’s flight to return to Bengaluru has not been booked yet, which has deepened the suspense. If not the Governor then how to resign? This is the future plan: According to the news coming from political circles and sources, despite the Governor not being in the city, there does not seem to be any change in Siddaramaiah’s stance. As per the decided strategy, he can submit his resignation in the Governor’s office (Raj Bhavan). Earlier there was discussion that Siddaramaiah would personally go to Raj Bhavan at 11 am on Thursday and submit his resignation. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah has called a very important ‘breakfast meeting’ of Congress MLAs on Thursday morning itself. Although, suspense remains on what is the official agenda of this meeting, but it is being seen as an exercise to keep the MLAs united and reach a consensus on the name of the new leadership. DK Shivkumar’s stir in Delhi increased, Surjewala will take command. These speculations about change of power in Karnataka got further fueled when Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar suddenly extended his stay in Delhi. Shivakumar is now returning to Bengaluru on Thursday morning. It is believed that he has completed the last round of talks with the top leadership (high command) of the Congress in the national capital. On the other hand, while talking to journalists in Bengaluru, State Home Minister G. God has made a big statement. He said that every leader and MLA of Karnataka Congress is bound to accept the decision of the high command. Whatever decision the party leadership takes, it will reach us through state in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala. Indications are that Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala can reach Bengaluru from Delhi today itself, after which the fog of change of leadership will be completely cleared.
