Patna. Bihar government has taken a big step towards ending land related disputes in urban areas and making the record system transparent. The state government has decided to conduct a comprehensive land survey in 264 urban bodies.
Under this scheme, new records of land will be prepared in Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat areas, which is expected to benefit crores of people. After this decision of the government, now the complete details of the land of the people living in cities will be recorded in digital form. This will bring a lot of ease in buying and selling of land, transfer of name, map verification and government schemes.
In which areas land survey will be done
19 Municipal Corporations, 89 Municipal Councils and 156 Nagar Panchayats of the state have been included in this mega campaign. That means almost all big and small cities of Bihar will come under the purview of this scheme. The government aims to make urban land records as systematic and modern as those in rural areas.
Maps will be prepared with drone technology
State-of-the-art technology will be used during land survey. With the help of drone mapping and digital equipment, accurate measurement and demarcation of each plot will be done. This can eliminate the problem of old disputed maps and wrong records to a great extent. After the new survey, a digital map and new Khatian of each land will be prepared. This will also facilitate people in keeping the proof of their property safe.
2 crore people will benefit
The government believes that this scheme will directly benefit about 2 crore urban population of the state. At present, land disputes, wrong records and map irregularities remain a big problem in cities. In many cases, multiple claims arise on the same land. Such problems are expected to reduce after digital records are created.
what should people do
During the survey, land owners will have to provide correct information related to their property. For this, you may have to submit a self-declaration form, in which information like land area, boundary, khesra number and genealogy will have to be given. Apart from this, people have been advised to keep their important documents safe in advance, such as receipt of Jamabandi, copy of old Khatian, documents of purchase and sale of land, identity card and other records.
