He will address a special session on Asia’s maritime security architecture at this prestigious forum organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS). During this, he will meet not only India, but also global and regional defense counterparts and discuss strategic issues.
Strengthening bilateral defense partnership
It is noteworthy that in October last year, India-Australia Defense Ministers’ Dialogue was organized for the first time in Australia. Marles believes that this meeting is a testament to the common desire to expand cooperation between the two countries and the tremendous progress made in the last few years.
Recently, the 10th session of Defense Policy Dialogue was also successfully concluded in New Delhi on 8 May. In this talk, officials of both the countries expressed satisfaction over the increasing number of joint military exercises and their complexity. The Indian delegation was led by Joint Secretary Amitabh Prasad, while the Australian side was led by Bernard Philip, First Assistant Secretary for International Policy.
