Electric fun in the budget of petrol cars: New Tata Tiago EV Facelift 2026 launched; Prices reduced drastically with BaaS scheme
Tata Motors has once again played a big bet to bring electric vehicles (EV) within the reach of common people in the Indian automobile market. The company has launched the new updated version of its most popular electric hatchback Tata Tiago EV Facelift 2026 in India. This is not just a minor cosmetic change, but Tata has completely changed the look, cabin and above all its ownership model of this car. The starting ex-showroom price of this new electric hatchback has been fixed at ₹ 6.99 lakh. But the most interesting thing is that Tata is also offering it with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option. By choosing this option, the starting price of the car comes down to just ₹ 4.69 lakh, while you will have to pay the battery cost separately at the rate of ₹ 2.6 per kilometer. This means you can now bring home an advanced electric car at the price of an ordinary petrol hatchback. Let us remind you that the price of its old model used to be between ₹ 7.99 lakh to ₹ 11.14 lakh. Tata Tiago EV Facelift 2026: Variants and Prices (Ex-Showroom) Tata has introduced this new hatchback in four main variants to suit different budgets and needs: Variant Battery Pack Capacity Starting Price (Without BaaS) Smart 19 kWh ₹6.99 Lakh Pure+ 19 kWh ₹8.49 Lakh Pure+ 24 kWh ₹9.49 Lakh Creative+ 24 kWh ₹ 9.99 Lakh No longer a budget car, it will now look and feel ‘premium’. Through this facelift, Tata Motors has tried to take Tiago.ev out of the realm of just an ‘affordable or budget EV’ and establish it as a premium small car. This change can be clearly seen in the design and interior of the vehicle. How much has the car changed externally? The exterior design of the vehicle now looks cleaner, modern and futuristic than ever before. Its front look has been improved a lot. The car has new brilliant LED headlights, connected taillights and completely newly designed alloy wheels, which give it a distinct and bold presence on the road. New feel of cabin and dashboard The biggest and main change is felt as soon as you step inside the car. To make the cabin more luxurious, new and better materials have been used in it. Larger Touchscreen Display: The dashboard now features a larger 26.03 cm (10.25-inch) HD touchscreen infotainment system with support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Premium Finishing: Inside the car, the digital instrument cluster along with the dashboard has been given a special ‘Fabricia Lux’ finish, which is not commonly seen in cars in this segment. Long list of features: In this small electric car that can compete with big cars, Tata has included such safety and comfort related features that are usually seen in large and expensive SUVs: 360-degree camera and blind view monitor (to make parking easier in tight spaces) More than 40 connected car features and smartwatch connectivity Cruise control and rear AC vents for rear passengers Automatic climate control, Rain-sensing wipers and push-button start Number one in safety: 6 airbags standard Tata has left no stone unturned on the safety front. The new Tiago EV now comes with 6 airbags as standard (i.e. in all variants). Apart from this, modern facilities like Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control, Hill Hold Assist and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) have been provided to keep the vehicle safe on turns. Battery tension is over forever: The biggest concern of first-time EV buying customers is the damage to the battery and the cost of its replacement. Putting an end to this fear once and for all, Tata has announced a lifetime high-value battery warranty on the 24 kilowatt-hour (24 kWh) model. Range, Charging Speed and Performance The charging technology and range have been optimized for Indian conditions to improve the everyday usability of the vehicle: Real-World Range: 19.2 kWh Battery Pack: Will easily deliver a real range of around 160 to 170 km in daily use. 24 kWh battery pack: Capable of delivering a real-world range of approximately 205 to 215 kilometers on a single charge. Fast Charging: If you are on a journey, with the help of fast charger this car can achieve a range of 100 kilometers in just 18 minutes. Pickup and Speed: Thanks to the instant torque of the electric motor, this car accelerates from 0 to 60 kmph in just 5.7 seconds in sport mode. Useful thing: This new strategy of Tata Motors is clearly to attract those customers who are troubled by the rising prices of petrol but were put off by the high starting price of EV. By bringing down the starting price below Rs 5 lakh through the BaaS model, the company has now made driving an electric car a very easy and sensible option for every common Indian.
