IPL 2026: Sai Sudarshan made a shameful record by taking wickets in 2 consecutive matches

In the 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026), Gujarat Titans (GT) star batsman Sai Sudarshan has made such a strange and unique record in his name, which hardly any batsman in the history of cricket would like to make. Sai Sudarshan has become the first batsman in the world to be out ‘hit wicket’ thrice in IPL history and in two consecutive knockout matches. The most surprising thing is that in the history of professional cricket, it has rarely been seen when a batsman has been out in two consecutive matches in such a way that while playing the shot, his bat slipped from his hand and fell directly on the stumps. Sai Sudarshan returned to the pavilion after getting out in exactly the same style against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Qualifier-1 of IPL 2026 and now against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Qualifier-2. Will Sai Sudarshan now come with glue on gloves? In the post-match presentation ceremony after the end of the Qualifier-2 match, when Sai Sudarshan was jokingly asked whether he would now come to the field with glue on his gloves for the final match to be held in Ahmedabad? Smiling at this Sai Sudarshan replied:

"I think I should try some different things now. I am going to use some special ‘Grip Tape’ for the next match and play a few balls in the nets to see how it feels. In the last game (Qualifier 1), my bat bounced on the ground and hit the stumps, but in this game it seemed as if the bat wanted to go straight to the stumps."

Captain Shubman Gill said while enjoying – ‘You will have to tape your hand’ In Qualifier-2, when Sai Sudarshan’s bat slipped from his hand and hit the stumps again, Captain Shubman Gill standing at the non-striker end looked very disappointed and surprised. After the match, Gill spoke openly about this interesting and rare incident. Shubman Gill said:

"I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this live in my life. To be out like this in two consecutive matches… no one would have seen anything like this, really. I had seen a meme video on social media in which Sai’s hand was taped, I think I will really have to tape it in the next match (final)."

Gill-Sudarshan’s great partnership defeated Rajasthan. Even though Sai Sudarshan’s wicket fell in a very strange manner, but before getting out, he along with captain Shubman Gill had destroyed the bowlers of Rajasthan Royals. There was a huge and match-winning partnership of 167 runs between the two for the second wicket, which completely eliminated Rajasthan Royals from the match. In this match, Sai Sudarshan played a quick inning of 58 runs in 32 balls before getting out. On the other hand, captain Shubhman Gill proved his mettle with his bat and scored a blazing century of 104 runs in just 53 balls. Thanks to this brilliant century by Gill, Gujarat Titans have secured their ticket to the finals. Now the final of IPL 2026 will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT).
