Madras High Court On VIP Darshan In Temples: Madras High Court raised questions on the arrangement of VIP darshan in temples, said – everyone is equal for God
New Delhi. There are many temples across the country where there is provision for VIP darshan. By paying money for VIP darshan, devotees get the facility to have darshan away from the crowd. Madras High Court has raised questions on this system of VIP darshan in Hindu temples by paying money. While hearing a petition, the High Court bench said that everyone is equal for God, whether he is a minister or a common man. The court said that MLAs or ministers or other VVIP people should not think that they can enter the temple anytime and have darshan.

Expressing concern over the facility of quick and easy darshan in temples for taking money, the court termed it as discriminatory. The court questioned what is the need for VIP arrangement for the last darshan? The court also argued that no such practice is followed in mosques and churches, then why has such a system been implemented in temples only. The court also rejected the argument that stopping the VIP darshan system would result in loss of revenue to the temples.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader has filed a petition
Let us tell you that in the petition filed by P. Chokalingam, leader of the Tamil Nadu unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, it has been alleged that Nirmal Kumar, a minister in the Vijay government of Tamil Nadu, had recently gone to visit the temple located in Tiruparankundram. For his darshan, the temple administration had stopped the darshan of the common people and after the minister had darshan, the temple was opened for the common people. The petitioner has demanded to end the system of VIP darshan except for senior citizens, disabled and constitutional officers.
