Emilia Clarke praises ‘Game of Thrones’ handling of nude scenes

Emilia Clarke has spoken out about her experiences filming explicit scenes saying she has sometimes felt a “lack of care” on certain productions that made her uncomfortable.

The Game of Thrones star said that while HBO’s handling of intimate scenes on the fantasy series was handled with professionalism other projects did not give the same level of attention or support.

Speaking to Variety for its Power of Women issue Clarke said she had experienced situations that felt “not right” even if they were not the result of direct abuse of power.

“There’s just been a number of occasions where I’ve been like: ‘This ain’t right,’” she said adding that in some cases the issue came down to poor planning and lack of consideration on set.

Clarke did not name any specific projects but said the experiences made her more aware of how important proper care and communication are when filming intimate scenes.

She credited Game of Thrones for providing a more structured and supportive environment when dealing with nudity and sensitive material during filming.

The actress who played Daenerys Targaryen in the hit HBO series has previously spoken about the pressures she faced early in her career including feeling unprepared for certain on-screen demands.

Her comments come after she also revealed she survived two life-threatening brain aneurysms during her time on the show describing the experience as deeply traumatic and life-changing.

Clarke said the health crisis left her struggling with fear for years afterward but also gave her a new perspective on life and her career in Hollywood.
