‘Once he shouts, my role will be suppressed…’ Why was Irrfan Khan scared of Sunny Deol?

On the basis of his strong acting, dialogue delivery and screen presence, he had created a distinct identity in the industry. Many actors used to feel pressure before working with him, but there came a time when Irrfan Khan himself was confused about sharing the screen with a big star.

This story is related to the film ‘Right Ya Wrong’, which was released in the year 2010. The film’s director Neeraj Pathak had revealed in an old interview that he had approached Irrfan Khan for this film. Although initially the actor had refused to be a part of the film.

According to Neeraj Pathak, Sunny Deol was to play the lead role in the film. When Irfan came to know about this, he became a little uncomfortable. He felt that his character should not get buried amidst Sunny Deol’s big star image and his popularity. For this reason he showed hesitation about doing the film.

The director told that Irrfan was also worried that the story of the film might revolve entirely around Sunny Deol’s character. However, Neeraj Pathak assured him that Sunny Deol is a professional and confident actor, who never lets any other actor’s character weaken.

Despite this, Irfan did not agree immediately. Later, when the producers considered the possibility of casting another actor, Irrfan expressed his desire to hear the script of the film again. After listening to the story, he liked the script very much and finally he agreed to work in the film.

After this ‘Right Ya Wrong’ starring Sunny Deol, Irrfan Khan and K.K. Menon’s trio appeared. The film may not have been a big success at the box office, but the performance of the actors was highly appreciated.
