Terrorists surrounded at 10 thousand feet in Rajouri, ‘Operation Sheruwali’ continues on 8th day
Suresh S. Duggar/ Jammu. The ongoing operation between terrorists and security forces in the Dorimal-Gambhir Mughal forests of Manjakot area of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir continued on Saturday. This operation, which started about a week ago, has now become a big challenge for the security agencies, because the terrorists are constantly changing their positions, taking advantage of the dense forests and inaccessible hilly areas. This encounter is going on at a height of 10 thousand feet in which more than 10 thousand soldiers are engaged.
cordon and search operation
Security forces have named this operation “Operation Sheruwali”. Joint teams of Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF had launched a cordon and search operation in the area based on intelligence information. According to initial information, it was suspected that two to three terrorists were hiding. During the search, the security forces came into contact with the terrorists, after which an encounter began.
Monitoring forests with drones
According to the latest information, security forces have increased pressure on suspicious hideouts inside the forest. The activities of terrorists are being monitored with the help of drones and other surveillance equipment. Officials believe that the terrorists are still hiding inside the forest and are not being given a chance to get out. Additional soldiers have been deployed in many areas and all possible routes have been sealed.
Fear of terrorists getting injured
During the last few days, intermittent firing and explosions have been heard from the encounter area. Security forces have also recovered some goods and other materials from possible hideouts of terrorists. There have also been reports of blood stains being found during the search operation, due to which it is believed that some terrorists may have been injured in the encounter. Although this has not been officially confirmed.
According to sources, security agencies suspect that the hidden terrorists may be linked to foreign and Pakistan-backed organizations. This is the reason why the campaign is being run very carefully. The security forces are working on a strategy to safely surround and neutralize the terrorists while avoiding any kind of haste.
Security tightened in Rajouri area
Meanwhile, security arrangements have been tightened in the entire Rajouri area. Surveillance has been increased in the surrounding villages and people have been appealed to remain alert. Officials say the operation will continue until all the terrorists hiding in the area are eliminated or arrested. At present the encounter is going on and the security forces are continuously conducting intensive searches of the area.
