Read:- Due to the nexus of CMO and drug mafia, the hard work of the Health Minister is being ruined, why is ‘Meerut’ mentioned in the tender of Ambedkar Nagar?
Peepal Baba, who is fond of planting trees and loves the Peepal tree, says that the Peepal tree had attracted him since childhood. He has spent 48 years in plantation, conservation and propagation of this important species. This book is my way of sharing that long companionship, which is both bittersweet and sacred. Thanks to his grandmother, he got introduced to the forests of Uttarakhand, Corbett, Rajaji, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Narendra Nagar, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Nainital and Almora. Our small family was transferred to Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh. Even decades later, even during the pandemic lockdown, I couldn’t stay inside the walls. I would water the plants, feel the sun on my back, talk to the wind as if it were an old friend of mine. Nature did not create us to live in captivity. He created the open sky and called it home. Cambrian Hall School became my first formal school. Before that, I had studied for a year each in Kolkata, Dalhousie and Chandigarh.
Peepal Baba along with the Army has planted saplings in 18-20 units in Meerut. Along with creating two micro forests on Saket and Boundary Road in collaboration with Kitchen Garden Association, a greenery campaign has been launched in many schools. He has received a proposal from the UP Tourism Department to plant saplings in Hastinapur also, but at present beautification work is going on there. After that he will plant saplings there. Jagdish Thakur, Project Manager of West UP and Uttarakhand of Give Me Trust, said that there is a vermicompost plant in Uldepur near Pallavapuram in Meerut, where there are 350 beds and 60-70 tonnes of manure is produced in a month. Not only this, 10 women have also got employment through this work. Under the leadership of Peepal Baba, he has planted 10 thousand trees in Modinagar Forensic Science Lab, Niwari. There is also a center nursery in Umar Pur Lisoda village on Jansath Road in Khatauli.
