Relief news for lung cancer patients
An important and positive news has come from the medical field for people suffering from serious diseases like cancer. Recently, scientists have made a significant breakthrough in the treatment of lung cancer in the testing of a new drug. Leading drugmaker Eli Lilly has announced encouraging results of the Phase III clinical trial of its cancer treatment drug ‘Retevmo’. This study found that this drug significantly reduces the risk of cancer recurrence or death in patients with certain types of early-stage lung cancer.
Results of ‘Libreto-432’ trial
important results
These positive results have been obtained from the trial named ‘Libreto-432’. In this research, the effect of Retevmo drug was studied on those patients who had already undergone surgery or radiation therapy. The researchers found that patients who received Retevmo after treatment had an 83 percent reduced risk of cancer coming back or dying compared to patients who were given a placebo.
Effective results in stage 2 to stage 3A patients
excellent results
According to the results, the effect of this drug was seen most in patients from Stage 2 to Stage 3A. About 92 percent of patients taking Retevmo were found to be completely cured after 24 months of treatment, while only 61 percent of patients in the placebo group remained free of the disease during this period.
Presentation of results at ASCO meeting
future plans
These results will be presented at the 2026 annual meeting of the ‘American Society of Clinical Oncology’ (ASCO). Experts believe that after this success, it will become extremely important to conduct genetic or genomic testing in lung cancer patients, so that the lives of the patients can be saved by taking advantage of this targeted therapy at the right time.
