Trump considering Iran deal but no final decision yet
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump held a meeting with his advisors on Friday at his official residence and office ‘White House’ but has not yet taken any final decision on the proposed agreement to extend the ceasefire period with Iran and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, Iran has also said that this agreement has not yet been finalized. Before the meeting, Trump had said that he was going to take a “final decision” on the issue. However, a senior administration official later said that the nearly two-hour meeting with national security advisers ended without any decision.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Trump would only approve a deal that meets his “set conditions” and curbs Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Trump held this high-level meeting a day after several media outlets reported that US and Iranian negotiators had agreed to a preliminary agreement under which the current fragile ceasefire would be extended for 60 days and talks would resume on Iran’s disputed nuclear program.
