General NS Raja Subramani Takes Charge As CDS: General NS Raja Subramani enumerated his priorities after assuming the post of CDS, has had a brilliant career in the army.
New Delhi. General NS Raja Subramani took over as the country’s third CDS on Sunday. Before assuming office, General NS Raja Subramani visited the National War Memorial and paid tribute to the martyred soldiers. After receiving the guard of honour, General NS Raja Subramani recalled the achievements of the three services during the era of his predecessor CDS, late General Bipin Rawat and General Anil Chauhan. Also enumerated his priorities. General Subramani has had an illustrious career in the Army.

CDS General NS Raja Subramani said that he is grateful for the trust the country has shown on the Army. He said the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force, Defense Ministry, strategic institutions and all stakeholders are united under the country’s vision to strengthen India’s security. Enumerating the priorities, he said that he is committed to implementing PM Narendra Modi’s vision of unity, self-reliance and innovation. General NS Raja Subramani said the main focus will be on rejuvenation of the three services of the Army, organizational reforms to enhance cohesion, synergy and integration. He also counted the development and assimilation of weapons in the country as a priority.

Along with assuming the post of CDS, NS Raja Subramani will also work as Secretary, Military Affairs, Government of India. Earlier, NS Raja Subramani was Military Advisor in the National Security Council Secretariat from 1 September 2025. He was the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army’s Central Command from March 2023 to June 2024. After which he was the Deputy Chief of the Army from July 2024 to July 2025. Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani joined the Garhwal Rifles in December 1985. He remained in the Indian Army for 37 years. He also worked on the border of China and Pakistan and because of this he has complete knowledge of the military capabilities of these old enemy countries of India. Lieutenant General Subramani is a graduate of NDA and IMA. NS Raja Subramani has also taken training from Joint Services Command and Staff College, Britain and National Defense College, Delhi. Apart from this, he has also done Master of Arts from King’s College, London and MPhil in Defense from Madras University. NS Raja Subramani is a recipient of PVSM, AVSM, Sena Medal and VSM.
