IPL 2026 Final: Gujarat Titans team was playing the final match of IPL 2026 at its home ground Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Where in front of him was the team of Royal Challengers Bangalore. In this match, RCB team won the toss and chose to bowl first. After which they restricted Gujarat to 155 runs in 20 overs and won the match by 5 wickets. After which Gujarat captain Shubman Gill has explained the reason for the defeat.

Shubman Gill told the reason for defeat

Gujarat Titans team was out of the match from the very first ball of the match. Talking about which, Gujarat captain Shubman Gill said in the post match presentation ceremony, ‘I think if we would have scored closer to 180, 190, it would have been a good match. (On the question whether the pitch was slow or double speed?) To be honest, it was not that much, it was a little bit. We have seen that whenever we play, the fast bowlers get a little swing in the first three-four overs.

Gill further said, ‘We lost some wickets in the beginning and then our rhythm deteriorated in the middle, we could not play properly. But we knew that we were playing the final. 150, 160, if we had got some early wickets in the powerplay, we would have always been in the match. Yes, I think 15-20 more runs were scored in the powerplay. If we had restricted them to around 50-55 runs, we still had a chance.

Captain Gill also praised the team

Praising his team, Shubman Gill said, ‘I think we were one of the best bowling teams of the tournament. The way we made a comeback in the tournament after losing the first two matches. Keep talking constantly, keep pushing yourself, keep challenging yourself in different areas. We couldn’t win, but you know, there are always things that can be improved. Even if we had won the trophy, there were still things we needed to work on as a team.
