Haryana: Big explosion in Ramgarh, Panchkula, trial of high caliber bomb successful, test conducted amid tight security

Panchkula: Sunday was not a normal day in Ramgarh area of Haryana. When the testing of high-yield bombs started in the test range of Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), special alertness regarding security was seen in the entire area. The sound of the explosion was so loud that its impact was felt till Panchkula and the smoke rising into the sky was clearly visible even from a distance. People were already alerted by the administration and the local residents also followed the instructions completely.

Before the test, Panchkula administration had made special preparations regarding security arrangements. People of Bhanu and Billa villages were instructed to stay indoors from 10:30 am to 12:30 noon. The administration took this step because there was a fear of the impact of the explosion and the spread of bomb fragments during the test. The local administration had appealed to the people not to go out till the stipulated time and not to be careless in any way. Along with this, it was also advised not to leave the cattle in the open, so that any unpleasant situation can be avoided.

Why were villages declared splinter danger zones?

According to the information, the fragments released from the explosion of the high-powered bombs used during the test could go up to about 1.5 kilometers and were likely to spread in the surrounding area of about two kilometers. For this reason, Bhanu and Billa villages were temporarily declared ‘Splinter Danger Zone’. Keeping security in mind, a special security cordon was created within a radius of two kilometers around the test range. During this period, movement of people was limited and shops were also instructed to remain closed for the stipulated time.

The area echoed with the sound of the explosion

When the test took place, a loud explosion shook the surrounding areas. It is being told that after the explosion, a plume of smoke was seen rising to a great height. Local people say that even before this, tests and blasts have been taking place in this area, but this time for the first time such a clear advisory was issued. Villagers said that the effect of the instructions received from the administration was clearly visible. In villages, people stayed inside their homes and shops were also kept closed. Compared to normal days, an atmosphere of unusual peace and alertness was seen in the area.

Administration’s appeal and people’s cooperation

The administration continued to monitor the situation during the trial. Officials appealed to the people to maintain cooperation and follow safety instructions. Local people also showed responsibility and refrained from going out till the stipulated time. While the objective of this entire exercise was to complete the test safely, ensuring the safety of the people living nearby was also the priority of the administration. At present, no major damage or untoward incident has been reported during the testing.
