‘We Miss You, Katrina’: Akshay Kumar smokes, dances with Disha Patani in recreated version of Uncha Lamba Kad (reactions)
Seems like there is a dearth of music composers, and original songs have died a silent death. Gone are the days when we used to hear original songs or music; every other song is recreated. There were days when old songs from the 60s and 70s were recreated, but now even early 2000s and 90s songs are being recreated. Where is the originality?
Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta on Ucha Lamba Kad and Chunnari Chunnari remix: ‘What Will They Remix In 2046?’
Not just netizens, even filmmaker Sanjay Gupta weighed in on Bollywood’s increasing reliance on remixes, raising concerns about the lack of original music in the industry. His comments come at a time when several recreated versions of popular Hindi film songs have been released.
Last week, we saw iconic tracks such as Chunnari Chunnari and Ishq Chandi Hai from Biwi No. 1 recreated once again for Varun Dhawan’s Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The recreated version of Chunnari Chunnari originally starred Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen.
And on Monday, Akshay Kumar and Disha Patani dropped the second song from Welcome To The Jungle, Ucha Lamba Kad.
The original song featured Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif and was from the film Welcome. The recreated track is being used for Welcome To The Jungle.
Reacting to the trend, Gupta shared his thoughts on X and questioned whether Bollywood is becoming overly dependent on nostalgia-driven content. Without taking any names, he posted, “Film music in 2026: every super-hit from 20 years ago has been remixed and released. My genuine concern: what will they remix in 2046? The remixes?”

“Hypothetical but important: Bollywood is banned from prequels, sequels, remakes and remixes. Original ideas only. What happens? A) Best era of Indian cinema begins. B) Industry collapses in 6 months,” he wrote.
The makers of both the songs have not reacted to Gupta’s post yet.
Fans unhappy with Akshay Kumar – Katrina Kaif’s Ucha Lamba Kad
Meanwhile, netizens aren’t impressed with Disha’s version of Ucha Lamba Kad and are missing OG Katrina. Many argued that when Akshay Kumar was retained for the song, why wasn’t Katrina? At the end of the song, Akshay even says, “We miss you, Katrina.” The new song has more Punjabi flavour compared to the earlier version.
The recreated version is sung by Anand Raj Anand and Rubai, with lyrics by Meggha Bali, along with the original lyrics by Sameer.

Many users commented on Akshay’s Instagram handle to share their reactions, with several calling the recreated version a ‘banger’ and applauding its energetic choreography and vibrant visuals. While fans acknowledged the nostalgia of Katrina’s original performance.
Several netizens drew comparisons with the recently recreated track, particularly Chunnari Chunnari—Let’s Go from Varun Dhawan’s film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.
A user commented, “Best Recreation ever, but we still miss our beautiful Katrina Kaif.”
Another commented, “Disha did a fine job, but it’s Katrina’s song.. Katrina is different.”
