KSI steps away from popular British group Sidemen after 13 Years
KSI’s journey with The Sidemen is coming to an end, with the creator officially exiting the popular online collective.
Addressing his 18.4 million subscribers in a video titled “I’m leaving the Sidemen,” KSI (Olajide Olatunji) said he has felt “pulled in a lot of directions” over the past few years, while emphasizing that the decision to leave was entirely his.
The video was first met with skepticism online, with some fans unsure if it was genuine; however, it has since been verified, and The Sidemen also issued a statement expressing they were “sad to share the news” that KSI had “decided not to continue.”
“We’re sad to share the news that JJ (KSI) has decided not to continue as part of the Sidemen,” the released a statement on Instagram on May 31, regarding his departure. “We had an amazing time on this journey with him and we wish him all the best with his future endeavours. This doesn’t change anything for the rest of us.”
Continuing, “We’re still committed to creating the best content, events and shows that we can for you all.”
“This came as a surprise to us and we know it will be an adjustment for you, but we’ve got lots of exciting stuff planned that we can’t wait to share,” they further revealed.
Over time, The Sidemen’s presence has steadily expanded into mainstream TV, boosted by KSI’s growing visibility after joining Britain’s Got Talent, as well as the success of their Netflix reality series Inside and its American spin-off.
Reassuring fans, the 32-year-old British influencer said “nothing bad has happened” between him and the rest of the group as he went on to express his gratitude towards the other members.
