RCB batsman Tim David out of the first match of IPL 2027, shocking reason revealed
Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Tim David will not play in the first match of IPL 2027. David has been banned for one match for throwing an ice bag at umpire Nitin Menon during the final against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Apart from the ban, David was also fined
Along with the ban, David was also fined 50 percent of his match fee. The statement issued by the IPL on Monday said, “Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Tim David has been fined 50 percent of his match fee for being found guilty of Level-1 violation of the code of conduct during the IPL 2026 final. Apart from this, two demerit points have also been added to his account. This incident took place during the final match played against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.”
The statement further said, “Tim David was found guilty of breaching Article 2.9 of the IPL Code of Conduct. This rule relates to throwing the ball or any cricket-related object (such as a water bottle) in an inappropriate or dangerous manner towards a player, team official, umpire, match referee or any other person during a match.”
This incident happened in the 10th over of the first innings. After the fall of the wicket, Tim David got angry and threw an ice bag in the direction of umpire Nitin Menon. Tim David admitted his mistake and also accepted the punishment given by match referee Javagal Srinath.

David got a fine and two demerit points for throwing an ice bag at Nithin Menon. But this was his third mistake and his total became five demerit points, due to which he was banned for one match.
The statement issued by the IPL read, “This was Tim David’s third Level-1 offense this season. Earlier, he had received one demerit point in Match 20 and two demerit points in Match 54. Now his total has reached five demerit points, due to which he has been banned for one match. Due to this, he will not be able to play the first match of the season for RCB or whatever team he represents in IPL 2027.”
