A popular frozen food item is being recalled nationwide due to potential contamination with Salmonellathe manufacturer reports.
Champion Foods, the manufacturer of Motor City Pizza Co. 5 Cheese Bread is voluntarily recalling the product following a recall of California Dairies, Inc., milk powder due to potential Salmonella contamination. The milk powder was supplied to a third-party manufacturer that provides a seasoning blend used in the five-cheese sauce blend.
The product was distributed nationwide to retailers such as Costco, Walmart, Kroger, Target, Meijer, Publix and more. Specific batches of the single packs and double packs are both affected by this recall, with the UPC codes of 8 70375 00511 1 and 8 70375 00509 8, respectively.
The recalled best-by dates for the single packs are as follows: February 4, February 5, February 23, February 24, March 9, March 10, March 17, March 18, March 24, March 25, April 7, April 8, April 20 and April 21, 2027.
The affected best-by dates for the double packs are as follows: February 3, February 4, February 24, February 25, March 10, March 11, March 18 and March 25, 2027.
So far, there have been no reports of illness received by Champion Foods or their suppliers. Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) can cause various symptoms like diarrhea, stomach cramps, headaches, nausea and vomiting. Salmonellosis is especially dangerous to groups like young children, the elderly and people with suppressed immune systems.
