Samrat Chaudhary gave a befitting reply to his opponents by giving the statement “Nitish Kumar himself made me the Chief Minister…”
Patna. These days there is a ruckus in the politics of Bihar regarding the government bungalow. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Tuesday fiercely targeted former Chief Minister Rabri Devi. In fact, even after receiving the eviction notice, Rabri Devi has flatly refused to vacate the government bungalow at 10 Circular Road, Patna. Taking a sharp jibe at this issue, CM Samrat Chaudhary said that there are some people who are always worried about saving their house and bungalow. Recalling his old days during a ‘Sahayog’ program, the Chief Minister said that he had been a minister many times before and had also handled the responsibility of the Home Department, but despite this he had never lived in a house given by the government.
Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary further said that he has always lived in his small private residence of 24 square feet. Referring to his post, he said that he has become the Prime Minister of the country and Chief Minister at the behest of Nitish Kumar. He himself had not asked for this post from Nitish Kumar, rather Nitish Kumar himself had asked him to assume the role of Chief Minister. Today, he is taking Bihar forward on the path of development with the same responsibility.
Know what is the whole controversy of Rabri Devi bungalow
This entire political drama started when the Bihar government issued an official notice to RJD leader Rabri Devi on May 29. In this notice, he has been ordered to immediately vacate the government bungalow located at 10 Circular Road. The government has now allotted this bungalow in the name of Bihar’s Animal and Fisheries Resources Minister Nand Kishore Ram.
The very next day after receiving this notice, former Chief Minister Rabri Devi adopted a rebellious attitude. While talking to the media, she clearly said that she will not vacate this government residence in Patna at any cost. Rabri Devi challenged in a strong tone and said that if the government wants, it can call the police force to vacate the place, but she is not going to leave this bungalow and go anywhere.
Government property is not anyone’s private property
Countering Rabri Devi’s stubborn stand, CM Samrat Chaudhary said in a strict tone that the Chief Minister’s residence or any government bungalow belongs to the public. It cannot be considered as anyone’s personal property or ancestral property. Giving an example, he said that when Nitish Kumar stepped down from the post of Chief Minister, he immediately vacated the Chief Minister’s residence at 1 Anne Marg, because this is what the government rules say.
CM said that as soon as he stepped into the Chief Minister’s residence, the first thing he did was to change its name to ‘Lok Sevak Awas’. The Chief Minister’s house belongs only to the public. This place is not anyone’s personal property or the property of ancestors, nor is there any monarchy running in the country now that once it sits, it will not move away.
If the party asks, I will pack my things within 24 hours: Samrat Chaudhary
Samrat Chaudhary roared and said that the day his party and its leaders decide that his tenure is over, he will pack all his belongings and return to his personal home within just 24 hours. He will never move to any government accommodation again. He said that he has come here only to serve the public and not for his personal gain or luxury. Just as Nitish Kumar ran a good governance government in Bihar, similarly this government led by him will also continue to work day and night for the welfare of the people.
After this, while addressing a public meeting in Sheikhpura, the CM took the opposition to task on this issue. He said that this is not the era of kings and emperors that once you get a house, you remain stuck in it forever. He told that the house in which he is living today is the 11th residence he has got in his political career and he uses this place only for running his government office. Taking aim at the Lalu family, he said that some people become so deeply attached to these government amenities that the son wants a separate bungalow and the mother wants a separate one, while they do not care about the problems of the public. He assured the public that within twenty-four hours of the end of his tenure, Samrat Chaudhary would pack up his bed and return home, but would never take illegal possession.
