Maharashtra Farmer Loan Waiver: There is good news for the farmers of Maharashtra. An important meeting of the state cabinet was held on Tuesday. A decision was taken in this meeting which will provide great relief to the farmers. A decision was taken to waive off farm loans. The scheme to waive off farm loans was approved in the cabinet meeting. News regarding this have been published in many media reports. According to the information received, Legislative Council elections are currently going on in the state. The code of conduct is in force because of the Legislative Council elections. Therefore, no official announcement is expected on this decision today. It is believed that no official announcement will be made immediately on this matter. However, an announcement is expected very soon.
Farm loan waiver applicable till June 30
According to a report in Maharashtra Times, reports suggest that as per the decision taken in the state cabinet meeting, loan waiver of up to ₹ 2 lakh has been finalized. However, it has been told that no official announcement will be issued in this regard immediately. In fact, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had earlier said that the farm loan waiver would be implemented by June 30. After that confidence, now the news is coming that the Farm Loan Waiver Scheme has got official approval in the state cabinet meeting.
How many farmers will benefit from loan waiver?
It is expected that farmers will get loan waiver of up to ₹ 2 lakh. However, due to the election code of conduct, it is believed that no official announcement will be made in this regard yet. According to a report by ABP Majha, a total loan waiver of ₹36,585 crore is to be implemented. This loan waiver is expected to benefit 5.6 million farmers across the state.
Other decisions taken during the state cabinet meeting
A proposal for a US$500 million loan from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as well as state financing was approved to support works under Phase III of the ‘Chief Minister Village Roads Scheme’. Financial assistance was taken from Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and New Development Bank (NDB) for road improvement and upgradation. Maharashtra State Road Improvement Project is going to get financial assistance of ₹8,700 crore from both the banks. This will further accelerate the pace of road improvement and development in the entire state.
The Cabinet approved the inclusion of six colleges in Hyderabad (Sindh) National Collegiate University. This is a cluster university located in Mumbai. These institutions will be included as constituent colleges: Principal K. M. Kundnani College of Pharmacy, Mumbai, Kishanchand Chellaram Law College, Mumbai, Smt. Mithibai Motiram Kundnani College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai, Rishi Dayaram and Seth Hassaram National College and Seth Wasiyamul Asomal Science College, Mumbai and Thadomal Shahani Engineering College, Mumbai.
