Husband, accused absconding after killing wife, arrested in encounter, shot in leg after firing at police

Kaushambi. The husband, who was accused of murdering his wife and absconding in Ghoghpur village of Mahewaghat police station area of ​​the district, was arrested by the police after an encounter. The accused, who was trying to escape after firing at the police, was shot in the leg during retaliation. In injured condition, he has been taken into custody and admitted to the district hospital. During interrogation, the accused admitted to killing his wife. According to the police, the accused had earlier been sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case and was currently out on bail. According to the police, on the morning of June 2, Mahewaghat police station received information that Shivbhola Nishad, resident of Ghoghpur village, had murdered his wife Maya Devi (45). Police reached the spot after receiving the information, took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem and on the complaint of the family members registered a case under relevant sections including murder. The field unit team closely inspected the spot and collected necessary evidence. Seeing the seriousness of the incident, Superintendent of Police Satyanarayana inspected the spot and formed three teams to arrest the accused. The formed teams were continuously conducting raids and checking operations at possible targets. In this sequence, at around 11:30 pm on Tuesday night, the police team was checking suspicious persons and vehicles near Shahpur Mor and Bhagatpurwa Mor. Meanwhile, an attempt was made to stop a suspicious person riding a white motorcycle, but he dodged the police and started running away. On being chased, he turned the bike towards the unpaved road and lost his balance near Harbhajan Baba Mandir, Bairagipur. The police surrounded him and asked him to surrender, but the accused, seeing himself surrounded, opened fire on the police team with the intention of killing him. When the police retaliated in self-defence, he was shot in the leg, injuring him. After this the police arrested him. After the arrest, the accused revealed his name as Shivbhola Nishad, son of Natthu Nishad, resident of village Ghoghpur police station Mahewaghat. During interrogation, he confessed to killing his wife. Police have recovered an illegal .315 bore pistol, two empty cartridges of .315 bore, three empty cartridges of pistol and an Apache motorcycle from his possession. The injured accused has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment. According to the police, the accused also has a criminal history. He was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court in a case of murder and destruction of evidence registered in 2015. ADJ-07 The court had found him guilty and punished him on 10 September 2023. Presently he was out of jail on bail. The Superintendent of Police said that the accused has been arrested after successfully investigating the case. Advance legal action is being taken against him.
