Now teenagers will not see dangerous content again and again, big decision of Meta, new rules implemented on Instagram-Facebook
Meta Teen Accounts New Rules: In today’s time, the more social media has progressed, the more the concern about it has increased. In such a situation, Meta has taken a big step regarding the safety of children and teenagers on social media. Let us tell you that the company has announced that now new security settings have been implemented on Instagram, Facebook and Messenger for teen accounts aged 13 years and above. Regarding this new system, Meta claims that with these changes the youth will not be able to see repetitive and potentially harmful content.
Strict content settings will apply to teen accounts
Regarding its new change, Meta has said that as per the promise made last year, strict content control will now be implemented by default on all teen accounts. Let us tell you that the company worked with trust and safety company Alice, earlier known as ActiveFence, for testing and stress testing these features. Apart from this, the company wrote about its testing, ‘Instagram teen accounts with default 13+ settings saw 68 percent less mature content compared to the teen experience of competitor apps. Even where mature content did appear on Instagram Teen accounts, it was less intense than the mature content seen in competitors and 13+ rated movies.”
Repetitive content will also be controlled
In this new system, Meta is not only limiting objectionable content but it is also testing those posts which repeatedly bring a particular topic in front of the users. Which includes posts related to nutrition, weightlifting and anxiety. Regarding this new change, the company believes that instead of showing such content continuously, it should be balanced with content on different topics so that teenagers do not have too much impact on any one type of message.
Questions have already been raised
Now the whole world is watching Meta’s new efforts but questions have been raised on these efforts earlier also. Let us tell you that in a report in September, it was claimed that many of the major teen safety features of Meta are not working in real circumstances as the company has told the people. Apart from this, Meta also had to face trouble over the comparison made with PG-13 film ratings regarding Instagram teen accounts. But later it was also seen that there was an agreement between Meta and MPAA on this matter.

Increased pressure amid social media addiction
Amidst all this, it was also seen that amidst the historical lawsuits related to social media addiction, Meta is continuously engaged in strengthening its security features. The company has already introduced features like parental supervision tools and global age detection. After which the new changes indicate that in the coming time, the social media experience for teenagers may become safer and more controlled than before.
