Honda made a splash, sold more than 5 lakh two-wheelers in May, now will play a bet of Rs 1,500 crore

Honda Sales Report: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is continuously strengthening its hold in the Indian two-wheeler market. While it is seen that many companies are focusing on new launches and electric vehicles, Honda is preparing to increase the production capacity on a large scale in view of the increasing demand in the future. Let us tell you that the sales figures for May 2026 also confirm that the popularity of the company has increased to a great extent among the customers.

Great increase of 12% in Honda sales in May 2026

For information, let us tell you that Honda had registered total sales of 5.18 lakh units in May 2026, which is 12 percent more than the 4.65 lakh units sold in May 2025 last year. The company’s domestic sales remained the biggest contributor to these figures. Along with this, let us tell you that Honda sold 4.59 lakh units in India during May 2026 whereas last year in the same month this figure was 4.17 lakh units. Which directly shows the company’s 10 percent growth in the domestic market.

Tremendous demand for Activa, Shine and Dio

It is being said that Honda’s famous models have played a big role in its success. In which products like Activa, Shine and Dio continued to be supported by strong demand from people in the commuter bike and scooter segment. Apart from this, Honda’s hold has been seen strong not only in the domestic market but also in the international market. Due to which an increase of 24 percent was recorded in the company’s exports. Whereas in May 2026, Honda had exported 59,000 units whereas in the same period last year this figure was 47,000 units.

New production line to be set up in Rajasthan

In such a situation, to meet the increasing demand, the company has informed about the plan of setting up a third production line at the Tapukara plant in Honda, Rajasthan. Regarding which it is being told that this new line is expected to be operational by the year 2028. Due to which the company will get additional production of 6.7 lakh units annually. For this new project, the company will invest about Rs 1,500 crore and will also purchase 74,000 square meters of additional land near the existing plant.

2,000 new jobs and focus on 125cc-160cc segment

It is being informed that this expansion of Honda is being done mainly keeping in mind the increasing demand of 125cc and 160cc motorcycle and scooter segments. According to which, after the commencement of the new line, the total production capacity of the company’s second plant can increase to 20.1 lakh units annually. Apart from this, about 2,000 new jobs will also be created from this investment.
