BJP has intensified its preparations for the upcoming Legislative Council elections in Uttar Pradesh. The party does not want to leave any stone unturned in the elections to be held on 11 seats of the prospective teacher and graduate constituencies in September-October. Under this strategy, the discussion about the inclusion of two sitting Legislative Council members (MLC) in BJP has intensified in political circles.
According to sources, the chances of independent MLC Akash Aggarwal from Agra teachers constituency and Sharma faction president and MLC Dhruv Kumar Tripathi joining BJP are considered strong.

Akash Aggarwal, who won the election as an independent candidate in the year 2020 from Agra Teachers seat, defeated the candidates of both BJP and Samajwadi Party. Sources say that he has already talked to BJP leaders. If he gets assurance of getting BJP ticket from Agra teacher seat in the elections to be held this year, then his chances of joining the party may increase.

There is also a lot of discussion about three-time MLC Dhruv Kumar Tripathi joining BJP. In the 2020 elections, BJP did not field a candidate against him and gave him indirect support. There are talks of senior Sharma faction leader and former MLC Suresh Tripathi also joining BJP. It is being told that this time he is keen to contest elections from Allahabad-Jhansi teachers constituency and is claiming ticket from BJP. According to sources, the party organization is also gathering feedback about their influence and regional situation.
The tenure of 11 members will end in December
The tenure of the 11 members of the Legislative Council elected from teacher and graduate constituencies is expiring in December. These include six members of BJP, three of Samajwadi Party and two independent members.
