Chhattisgarh: Counting of votes for Panchayat and urban body by-elections continues at 13 centres….
Raipur. The results of general and by-elections of three-tier panchayat and urban bodies in Chhattisgarh will be declared today, June 4, 2026. As per the instructions of Chhattisgarh State Election Commission, counting of votes has started from morning itself.
Through this election, the fate of the candidates standing on 1310 vacant posts in the state will be decided. Voting for these posts was conducted peacefully on June 1, 2026.
Counting of votes will begin in the morning and with this, the fate of the candidates contesting for the posts of 5 urban body presidents, 71 councilors, 10 district panchayat members, 34 sarpanch and 107 panch posts will begin to emerge.
Counting of votes will be done in 13 designated counting centers of the state, where 395 officers and employees have been deployed to complete the counting work.
The State Election Commission had announced the schedule of urban body and three-tier Panchayat by-elections in May. After the release of the notification, the process of nomination, scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations was completed. After this, voting was held on June 1, whereas today i.e. on June 4, the results will be declared after counting of votes.
Voting was held for a total of 5 president posts and 71 councilor posts in the urban body elections. These also include elections for newly formed Nagar Panchayats. Special attention will be kept on the results of Ghumka of Rajnandgaon district, Bamhanidih of Janjgir-Champa district, Shivanandanpur of Surajpur district and Palari Nagar Panchayat of Balod district.
For the first time in these areas, a lot of enthusiasm was seen among the voters regarding the election of local representatives. In the Panchayat elections, voting was held for 10 Janpad Panchayat members, 34 Sarpanch and 107 Panch posts. Voters had participated enthusiastically in the voting held on June 1.
Out of 31,928 voters, 27,006 voted in the municipal elections, resulting in 84.58 percent voting. In the Panchayat elections, out of 1,02,797 voters, 79,968 people cast their votes and 78.61 percent voting was recorded.
For voting, 96 polling stations were set up in urban body areas and 274 polling stations were set up in Panchayat areas. State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh had described the voting process as completely peaceful.
