CM Bhagwant Mann approved the revised heritage street plan in Sri Anandpur Sahib, the spiritual and cultural experience of the devotees will increase.

Chandigarh: With an aim to strengthen the cultural identity of Punjab and showcase its rich heritage to the world, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today reviewed two important projects. Chairing a high-level meeting of the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann also approved the construction of a grand welcome gate at the Shambhu border, which has been designed in honor of Punjab’s ‘Panj-Aab’ identity and architectural heritage. Along with this, the Chief Minister has also approved the modified Heritage Street Project in Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Historical and religious places associated with Heritage Street

The Heritage Street will connect Fort Sri Anandgarh Sahib, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib and other historical Gurudwaras as well as provide a spiritual aura to the devotees and tourists, further strengthening Punjab’s commitment towards preserving the religious and historical heritage.

Approval for heritage street project in Sri Anandpur Sahib

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has approved the revised plan for the proposed Heritage Street at Sri Anandpur Sahib, one of the most revered historical and spiritual centers of Sikhism. "The proposed heritage street in Sri Anandpur Sahib will start from Gol Chowk near Kila Anandgarh Sahib and will reach Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Park, Gurdwara Sisganj Sahib and Gurdwara Bhora Sahib.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this project has been planned to further strengthen the spiritual and heritage experience of the devotees and tourists.

High-powered committee will be formed for the project

He further said that to ensure smooth implementation of the project, all necessary approvals will be obtained from the concerned authorities and its design will be duly approved by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and other competent authorities. He further said that a high-powered committee will also be formed for smooth and uninterrupted implementation of the project and its monitoring.

Grand welcome gate will be built on Shambhu border

Talking about the important Shambhu Swagati Gate project, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the grand Swagati Gate to be built on the Shambhu border will reflect the pride of Punjab. This gate is four-way N.H.A.I. (National Highway Authority of India) road will be built at a cost of Rs 12 crore, which will be a symbol of respect for our grand heritage and traditions.

Highway connectivity and architectural features

The Chief Minister said that this architectural wonder has been designed in such a way that it can seamlessly connect with the existing highway infrastructure, which will further enhance its beauty. The highway pillars of this gate will be installed along with service roads on both sides, which will create a grand identity at the entry gate of Punjab. Designed to honor the cultural heritage and traditional architecture of Punjab, the structure will feature elaborate craftsmanship that will reflect the unique identity of the state.

A glimpse of ‘Panj-Aab’ will be seen in the gate

Recognizing the unique cultural features incorporated in the design, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the gate will showcase regional artistry through a range of traditional and architectural styles. The gate has stone cladding, FRP. The work will feature gorgeous jaali patterns, Phulkari inspired artwork and many more, showcasing the rich artistic traditions of Punjab.

The concept of this design honors the origin of the word ‘Panj-Aab’, meaning land of five waters and this idea is architecturally represented by the ‘Rhythm of Five’, with five domes each on either side of the gateway, symbolizing the five rivers of the state. Cabinet ministers Harjot Singh Bains, Tarunpreet Singh Saund and other senior officials were present during the meeting.
