Türkiye’s message amid India-Pakistan tension, said- many countries have strong relations with Pakistan
New Delhi .After the recent tension between India and Pakistan, Turkey is once again in the news for its statements. Turkey, which has close relations with Pakistan, has clearly said that it is not the only country which has good relations with Islamabad. Turkey believes that India needs to look at this issue from a different perspective and both the countries should focus on increasing mutual cooperation.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan openly expressed his opinion regarding India and Pakistan in an international program. He said that there is no border dispute or historical enmity between India and Türkiye, hence there are enough reasons for better relations between the two countries.
Fidan said Turkey has historical and friendly relations with Pakistan, but that does not mean it is against India. According to him, many other countries of the world also have good relations with Pakistan and the entire bilateral relationship should not be affected by any one relation.
The Turkish Foreign Minister also said that despite differences between many countries, they look for ways of cooperation. Giving examples, he said that Turkey has differences with Russia, America and some European countries on various issues, but despite this, dialogue and cooperation continues. He believes that India and Turkey should also move forward on a similar positive agenda.
This statement has come at a time when questions have been raised about Türkiye’s role in India. Concern has been raised in India especially regarding its defense and strategic cooperation with Pakistan. It was also earlier claimed in media reports that Turkey had provided technical and military assistance to Pakistan during the India-Pakistan tension. However, different parties have different opinions on these claims.
In the background of tension between India and Pakistan, the military operations started after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir and the subsequent increased tension between the two countries are also being seen. In this context, Türkiye’s statement is being considered important from the point of view of regional diplomacy.
Experts believe that there are possibilities for cooperation between India and Turkey in trade, investment, tourism and global forums, but the difference in the viewpoint of the two countries regarding Pakistan has been causing tension in relations from time to time.
