Nirjala Ekadashi is considered special for career, business and mental peace, know the rules

Ekadashi Tithi is considered to have special importance in Sanatan Dharma, but among all the Ekadashis that come throughout the year, Nirjala Ekadashi is included among the most important and difficult fasts. In the year 2026, this holy fast will be observed on 25th June. According to religious beliefs, on this day devotees worship Lord Vishnu without consuming food or water. It is said that by observing this fast with devotion and regularly, one gets the same virtuous results as in twenty-four Ekadashis. This is the reason why lakhs of devotees across the country especially wait for this date.

According to mythology, Nirjala Ekadashi is related to the Mahabharata period. It is believed that among the Pandavas, Bhimsen was not able to observe Ekadashi fast regularly like other brothers. He asked Maharishi Vedvyas for a solution by which he could attain the virtue of all the Ekadashis. Then he was advised to observe the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi. It is said that Bhimsen observed this fast with full devotion and since then the importance of this Ekadashi increased further.

From religious point of view, this day is considered a symbol of worship of Lord Vishnu and self-control. After morning bath, devotees worship Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi, chant mantras and participate in charitable activities. Many people also donate water, fruits, clothes and other essential items to the needy on this day. It is believed that by doing this one attains virtue and positive energy is transmitted in life.

According to astrological beliefs, Nirjala Ekadashi is also considered an opportunity to increase mental balance, self-confidence and spiritual awareness. On this day, remembering Lord Vishnu, chanting mantras and meditating under the Peepal tree is considered auspicious. Many people sprinkle Ganga water in their homes and places of worship so that positivity remains in the environment. Special worship of Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi is also done with the wish of economic progress and prosperity.

This day is also considered special for students. According to traditional beliefs, activities like worship of study material, recitation of religious texts and meditation are considered helpful in increasing concentration. It is believed that sharing religious stories, hymns or spiritual discussions with family members strengthens family harmony and mutual communication.
