Actress Supriya Ganesh recently spoke about her exit from the hit HBO Max medical drama The Pitt. After two seasons of playing one of the central characters, she will not return for Season 3. The actress pointed to the executive producers “for answers” about the surprising decision.

Supriya Ganesh, who played Dr. Samira Mohan, is not returning for Season 3 of The Pitt. The actress believes that the reasoning behind that decision lies with Noah Wyle and other executive producers and writers.
“They work with such intention on the show and make all the choices that they make for that reason, so I think it’s better to ask them for answers,” she told the Los Angeles Times.
Ganesh then shared that she will cherish her experience filming The Pitt. “I’m going to treasure all the memories I had working with these two and everyone else,” she said, referring to Isa Briones (Dr. Trinity Santos) and Sepideh Moafi (Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi), who were also a part of the interview. “It’s been so great just getting all the love from the fans. I feel sad for them, too, that they won’t get to see this character.”
Earlier, it was reported that her exit was a creative decision by the producers and writers. In an interview with VarietyWyle, who also stars as Dr. Michael ‘Robby’ Robinavitch, said that Ganesh’s exit was “an inevitability that’s going to happen every season.” This could mean that as The Pitt progresses, more characters may leave. It remains to be seen who it will be and when.
Meanwhile, some fans believe that Ganesh’s exit might be abrupt. However, the character was building toward a potential exit throughout the season, as she struggled to choose an elective and faced personal issues with her mother.
At the end of Season 2, Dr. Mohan’s character didn’t receive a traditional farewell. Instead, her final scene was with Dr. Robby and involved a simple conversation about life. While it is currently unclear where Dr. Mohan will end up, Wyle assured that Season 3 will address it.
The Pitt Season 3 will debut sometime in January 2027.
