ENG vs NZ: Rod Tucker created history, became the fourth umpire in the world to officiate in 100 test matches.
Delhi: After the end of IPL 2026, now the excitement of Test cricket has started. The first three-match Test between England and New Zealand began on Wednesday, June 4. In this Test being held at Lord’s, umpire Rod Tucker achieved a big milestone as soon as he entered the field. Rod Tucker has now become the fourth umpire who has officiated in 100 or more test matches. For achieving this great achievement, before the start of the match, former Test umpire Ian Gould presented him a crystal trophy.
Jai Shah congratulated Tucker
ICC Chairman Jay Shah congratulated Tucker for accomplishing this historic feat. Shah praised Tucker’s excellent contribution and his excellent career as an umpire. Shah said in his statement,
‘Rod is a highly respected umpire whose consistency and professionalism have earned him the respect of his colleagues, players and fans around the world. His ability to conduct the match brilliantly and smoothly even under pressure situations makes him one of the best umpires of his era.

Tucker a source of inspiration for other umpires around the world – Shah
Shah further said that this historic figure of 100 Test matches shows how much trust the cricket fans have shown in Rod over the last few years, and his experience has been extremely valuable for cricket. He is a source of inspiration for other umpires around the world, from whom other umpires often take guidance.
He concluded by saying, ‘On behalf of the ICC, I would like to heartily congratulate Rod on this wonderful achievement and thank him for his extraordinary dedication to the game.’

After achieving this big achievement, Tucker also looked very happy. He described this record as a dream come true. Tucker said in his statement,
‘Cricket has always been my passion and I consider myself very lucky to have had such a long career as an international umpire. Officiating in my 100th Test match is a dream come true and I remember this entire journey with immense love and gratitude.
Tucker expressed gratitude to ICC and Cricket Australia
Australian umpire Tucker further said in his statement,
‘I would like to sincerely thank the ICC and Cricket Australia for their continued support over the last few years. Along with this, I am also grateful to the ‘Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association of New South Wales’ for encouraging me in the initial days of my career.
‘A special thanks to my fellow elite panel umpires and my family for their continued support. Without them I could never have reached this historic milestone. I look forward to continuing this beautiful journey with full enthusiasm in the coming years also.
Rod Tucker joins exclusive club of umpires
Before Tucker, three more umpires had achieved this feat. The names of Aleem Dar (145 Tests), Steve Buckner (128 Tests) and Rudy Kurtzen (108 Tests) are included in this list. Now Rod Tucker has also joined this elite club.
