At present, scorching sun and record breaking heat is wreaking havoc across the country. The temperature of the thermometer is continuously touching the sky and the humidity has made life difficult for the people. Everyone is struggling in their own way to escape this deadly heat and heatwave. But meanwhile, a very scary and alarming report has come out from the medical world. Three of the most well-known and senior doctors of the country have revealed that in this summer season, most of the people are unknowingly making some serious mistakes, which can take them straight to the ICU of the hospital. Doctors have advised the countrymen to immediately take precautions regarding these deadly habits.

The biggest danger is drinking cold water from the refrigerator after coming out from the sun.

It is often seen that when people return home after being scorched by the scorching sun and heat outside, they immediately open the fridge and gulp down ice-cold water or cold drinks to get relief. The country’s top cardiologists have expressed serious concern over this habit. He says that when our body suddenly comes from extreme temperature outside to a cold environment and we drink ice water, the ‘thermoregulation system’ of the body gets completely disturbed. This sudden change shrinks the blood vessels, due to which the risk of sudden cardiac arrest or brain stroke increases manifold. After coming out from the sun, one should consume only normal temperature water or pot water for at least 15 minutes.

It may be difficult to go from AC to direct sunlight and from direct sunlight to AC.

Sitting in offices, homes or cars keeping the air conditioner (AC) temperature at 16 or 18 degrees and then suddenly going out in the scorching heat of 40 to 45 degrees, is the second most common but dangerous mistake of this season. According to the country’s renowned pulmonologist (chest specialist), due to this extreme and sudden fluctuation in temperature, the body’s immunity suddenly collapses. In the language of medical science, it is called ‘thermal shock’. Due to this, complaints like severe pneumonia, high fever, throat infection, sudden low blood pressure and asthma attacks are increasing among people. Doctors recommend that the temperature of AC should always be kept between 24 to 26 degrees so that the body can keep pace with the external environment.

Not drinking water when not thirsty and excessive consumption of tea and coffee

Keeping the body hydrated in summer is the most important task, but most people are very careless in this matter. The country’s renowned gastroenterologist has warned that many people drink water only when they feel extremely thirsty, which is the last symptom of dehydration. Apart from this, the habit of drinking tea or coffee frequently during this season also absorbs water within the body as caffeine is a ‘diuretic’ substance which expels water from the body. Due to this severe lack of water, the most common incidents are kidney stones, urine infection, severe stomach cramps and heatstroke. It is mandatory to consume at least 3 to 4 liters of water, lemonade, coconut water or buttermilk in a day.

Keep yourself absolutely safe by adopting these easy and very important rules

All three doctors have collectively emphasized that to avoid summer related diseases, there is a need to adopt right habits and not expensive treatment. Avoid going out without any essential work between 12 noon and 4 pm when the sun is at its strongest. Even if you have to go out, wear light-colored cotton clothes, cover your head and face with a scarf or cap and use sunscreen. Along with this, stay away from cut fruits, stale food and excessively oily food available outside during this season, because bacteria grow very fast in summer which causes food poisoning and diarrhea.
