Shania Twain biopic set for big screen
Canadian singer Shania Twain’s life story is being adapted into a biopic.
The singer is known for her country pop music which gained her the title of “Queen of Country Pop”.
Shania’s biopic is in development at Sony Pictures, with writer‑director Leah McKendrick leading the project.
The project also features Shania s the producer.
As per Deadline, Leah’s experience as a singer‑songwriter helped her land the job.
Leah confirmed the project and expressed how “honoured” she is to lead it.
She shared a post on Instagram writing “Long before I was making movies, I was shooting Shania music videos in my bedroom.”
“It is a surreal dream come true to get to bring her trailblazing, gut-punching, awe-inspiring story to the screen,” she added.
The Grammy-winner is also preparing to release her seventh studio album, Little Miss Twain.
She has already released one single from the album titled Dirty Rosie.
The album will release worldwide on July 24.
Shania was born as Eilleen Regina Edwards in Windsor, Ontario in 1965 and released her self-titled debut album in 1993.
