New Delhi. In connection with the fire incident in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, hotel owner Lavkesh Bajaj was presented by the police in Saket court today from where he was sent on 4-day remand. Lavkesh Bajaj’s lawyer opposed his arrest and argued that he himself is a victim because in this incident his building in which the hotel was built was burnt to ashes. The police, while demanding remand of Lavkesh, argued in the court that for a thorough investigation of the matter, custodial interrogation of the hotel owner is necessary. Lavkesh’s lawyer said that he has not yet been provided a copy of the FIR lodged against his client and this is against the guidelines of the Supreme Court. On this, Delhi Police assured to give the FIR copy soon. Let us tell you that orders have been given for a high level investigation into this fire incident.

Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor Pravesh Wahi has written a letter to the Corporation Commissioner asking for a detailed investigation report within three days. On the other hand, the investigation so far has revealed that the hotel was being operated by ignoring many security related rules. Even the hotel did not have NOC from the fire department. There was only one way into the building and there were narrow stairs near the lift. Information has also been received that illegal construction work was done in the building and floors were built one after the other without permission.
