‘If Mamta says, I will make you win’… Humayun Kabir’s statement creates stir in Bengal politics
Tezzbuzz Desk – A new political controversy has emerged in the politics of West Bengal after the assembly elections. Nawada MLA Humayun Kabir has given such a statement, which has intensified the discussion in political circles. He has not only given an open invitation to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to contest the assembly by-elections, but has also claimed that there is widespread dissatisfaction within the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Humayun Kabir said that if Mamata Banerjee wants, he is ready to take the responsibility of making her contest the elections from Rejinagar assembly seat and make her win. He claims that he has a strong political hold in that area and the public support there is capable of bringing victory to any candidate.
The MLA said that in the current political circumstances it is necessary for Mamata Banerjee to be in the Assembly. According to him, Mamata’s role in state and national politics is still important and in such a situation, her staying out of the Assembly cannot be considered appropriate. For this reason, he has publicly proposed to Mamata Banerjee to contest the by-election.
Humayun Kabir claimed that the political equation of Rejinagar is completely different from that of Nandigram. He says that there he has defeated his opponents by a huge margin in the past and the public support will be with him in future also. On this basis, he said that if Mamata Banerjee personally requests him, he can pave the way for her victory.
However, the most talked about part of Humayun Kabir’s statement was the claim made regarding the internal situation of TMC. He alleged that many MPs of the party are dissatisfied with the current leadership and in the coming times, major political developments may be seen within the party. He claimed that disagreements are increasing within the party and its effect may soon be visible in national politics as well.
The MLA also commented about Abhishek Banerjee. He said that the party leadership ignored political realities, due to which the organization suffered losses. However, he also made it clear that Mamata Banerjee’s political acceptability and support base cannot be denied.
Political analysts believe that after the assembly elections, rapid changes are taking place in the politics of the state. At such a time, the statements of leaders like Humayun Kabir can create new challenges for both the opposition and the ruling party. Especially when there are continuous discussions taking place regarding the internal equations of the party.
At present, there has been no official response from Trinamool Congress on these statements of Humayun Kabir. But his statement has definitely started a new debate in Bengal politics, on which more political reactions can be seen in the coming days.
