Major terrorist conspiracy foiled in Punjab, two arrested with RDX based IED

Punjab News: A major terrorist conspiracy has been foiled in Punjab. The State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), SAS Nagar, has arrested two persons from whom RDX based IED (Improvised Explosive Device) has been recovered. This IED was in a completely ready condition and its weight is said to be around 2.5 kg.

According to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, this action was taken at a time when the campaign to make the state safe had achieved success. The explosive found from the arrested accused was completely assembled and ready for use. With this action, the conspiracy to target any major public structure in SAS Nagar was stopped in time.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mani Singh (32), resident of Gujarpura, Amritsar, and Abhishek Kumar (28), resident of Gilwali Gate.

DGP said that this is an action to prevent a serious threat, due to which potentially huge loss has been avoided. The matter is being further investigated so that the entire network and its other associates can be traced.

IGP Counter Intelligence Ashish Chaudhary said that based on intelligence, the police team arrested both the accused in front of a park near YPS Chowk, Mohali. Both of them had come from Amritsar to Mohali by bus and they had an explosive device.

There was contact with the handler sitting abroad

Investigation has also revealed that accused Mani Singh had contacted a handler sitting abroad through social media. Later he also included his brother-in-law Abhishek Kumar in this work. Due to financial constraints, both of them had agreed to work for a handler sitting abroad, in return for which they were lured with money.

Case registered under sections of BNS

Police have registered FIR number 08, dated 03.06.2026 in this matter at SSOC SAS Nagar police station. This case has been registered under sections 113(3) and 61(2) of the Indian Judicial Code (BNS) and sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act.
