Fuel with 85% ethanol launched, how much cheaper than regular petrol? The hassle of importing fuel from abroad is over!
E85 Fuel Launch: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launched E85 fuel at the Indian Oil fuel station on the occasion of World Environment Day on Friday. During this, he described it as a historic step towards a green future.
E85 is an ethanol plus petrol blended fuel. It contains ethanol 80-85 percent and petrol 14-19 percent and is specially designed for flex-fuel vehicles.

On this, Union Minister Puri said in a post on social media platform
He further said, ‘This is not only an important initiative for India’s energy sector, but also a source of additional income for farmers. This initiative will bring prosperity and progress in the lives of our energy donors.”

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the 100 per cent self-sustainable E85 fuel for flex-fuel vehicles is a milestone, which will ensure up to 61 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to petrol and will also be much cheaper.

The price of E85 fuel in New Delhi has been set at Rs 82.12 per litre, while the current regular petrol price is Rs 102.12 per litre, making it cheaper by Rs 20 per litre.

He further said that the technologies to make vehicles compatible with this green fuel are also largely indigenous. The development of such fuels and technologies will accelerate India’s green energy transition, contribute significantly to India’s efforts towards energy security and reduce our energy import bills. -with agency input
