Jackie Shroff recalls surprising detail about Shah Rukh Khan during ‘King Uncle’ days
Jackie Shroff has opened up about working alongside Shah Rukh Khan in the 1993 film King Uncle.
In an exclusive interview with YouthJackie spoke at length about the King actor’s unique persona, recalling how he would often sit silently in a corner.
He told the outlet, “Shah Rukh Khan played my younger brother in King Uncle, and I thought he was very silent. He would always sit in a corner. Every time I looked at him, I felt like he was a volcano waiting to erupt. He was extremely quiet. Then we worked together in Devdasand years later he cast me in Happy New Year. The only brief he gave me was: ‘Look handsome.’”
Apart from 1993’s King Unclethe duo also worked together in Devdas . Later, they reunited for Happy New Year in 2014 after a long hiatus.
Shroff said that working with Khan again on his upcoming film King has been an unreal experience.
He said, “Now, I am doing King with him. He is still the same. He has a lot of respect for everybody. He loves everybody. He is so well-spoken. He has represented India globally. I think he is one of the most beautiful human beings we have. What an actor, and he has a style that is entirely his own.”
For the unversed, King is slated for release on December 24, 2026.
