The shadows of Gotham City are lengthening once again, and Prime Video is wasting no time. Hot on the heels of its highly acclaimed freshman run, the streaming giant has officially dropped the premier details and official first-look images for the next chapter of the animated noir universe.

Executive produced by animation maestro Bruce Timm alongside Hollywood heavyweights J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves, Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 is locked and loaded to push the Dark Knight into an even more ruthless battle for Gotham’s soul.

Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 Release Details

The wait for the Dark Knight’s return is almost over. All 10 episodes of Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 will premiere simultaneously on Friday, July 31, 2026.

The sophomore block will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, keeping its binge-friendly format intact for fans eager to dive straight back into the retro, pulp-inspired underbelly of Gotham.

Season 2 Cast News and Fresh Faces

While Prime Video has kept the official, full voice cast roster closely guarded, the foundational pillars are fully locked in to return, alongside an iconic array of new allies and rogues.

Hamish Linklater as Bruce Wayne / Batman: Returning to deliver his distinctly stoic, dual performance as the brooding vigilante and his billionaire alter-ego.
Christina Ricci as Selina Kyle / Catwoman: Set to reprise her role as Gotham’s elite, whip-cracking cat burglar.

Carrie Kelley: In a spectacular nod to Frank Miller’s legendary graphic novel The Dark Knight Returnsthe show will feature the fan-favorite character who famously served as DC’s very first female Robin.
Roxy Rocket: The daring, thrill-seeking antagonist—originally birthed by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini for the 1990s animated universe—is officially crossing over into the Caped Crusader timeline.

Plot Details: A Grim New Rogues’ Gallery

Season 1 masterfully established a 1940s film-noir aesthetic where Batman functions strictly as a shadow-dwelling detective rather than a tech-fueled superhero. Season 2 will double down on this gritty baseline while introducing completely reimagined, pulp-era iterations of classic Batman adversaries.

The primary narrative engine will deal directly with the bone-chilling teaser that closed out the first season finale: The arrival of The Joker. First-look images showcase the Clown Prince of Crime obscured by heavy shadows, with the terrifying, unmistakable grin of one of his calling-card victims taking center stage. The showrunners have explicitly teased that this universe will feature a “very different,” psychologically intense version of the classic villain.

Furthermore, Batman will have his hands full as Gotham’s underground ecosystem fractures. The upcoming 10-episode arc will introduce stylized, era-appropriate versions of:
