Transfer of dead and suspended employees in Delhi Municipal Corporation?

New Delhi, June 6. A new controversy has arisen regarding the transfer order issued by the Engineering Department of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). It is alleged that in the recent transfer order of the corporation, the names of such junior engineers (JEs) were also included, two of whom have already died, while one officer is under suspension for a long time.

According to the allegations, JE Apoorva Bhatnagar passed away about seven months ago, while JE Prateek also passed away a few months ago. Apart from this, JE Gaurav Garg is said to be suspended for the last nine months. Despite this, due to the names of these three being included in the transfer list, questions are being raised on the functioning of the corporation.

Opposition leaders and local public representatives have called it serious administrative negligence and said that when even the names of dead and suspended employees have not been updated from the records, it is natural to question the credibility of other important administrative decisions.

Answers are being sought from the BJP ruled MCD administration and Mayor Pravesh Wahi regarding the matter. Demand is also being raised as to why verification was not done by the concerned officers before issuing the transfer order and what action will be taken against the officers responsible for this alleged lapse.

At present, no official response has come from MCD on this matter. If the allegations are found to be true, it points to serious lapses in the administrative machinery of the corporation, which may intensify the demand for an impartial investigation.
