Vaibhav has become the youngest player to make it to Team India. Whenever this young batsman comes on the field, everyone’s eyes are fixed on him and he wins everyone’s hearts with his brilliant performance. After making a name for himself in IPL 2026, now Vaibhav Suryavanshi is ready to represent the Indian cricket team in the blue jersey. Let us know what his childhood coach Manish Ojha said on his selection in Team India…

At what age did Vaibhav Suryavanshi start playing cricket?

In a special conversation with Tezzbuzz, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s childhood coach Manish Ojha told that Vaibhav Suryavanshi had picked up a bat at home at the age of four and a half and he used to play cricket with a plastic ball. Seeing his interest, father brought him to us, when he must have been only eight or eight and a half years old. Since then he has been coming to me regularly and now he has become busy. Till last year, he kept coming whenever he got a chance and his training had started at an early age. It takes eight to ten years for any player to become a player. Vaibhav is young, but his cricketing journey has been long.

In which things should Vaibhav Suryavanshi improve?

The coach said, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made a lot of changes in his game with time. Now a lot of difference has been seen in his strokes and ball selection ability. Now he bats even more aggressively than before. His batting approach is getting better with time. A player learns throughout his life and there is always scope for improvement. Vaibhav is still a child and he will learn a lot in the future. Considering his age, he has many exceptional qualities. Right now he is in his prime form, confident and in a good mental state.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is a child of shy nature.

Talking about the nature of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the coach said that Vaibhav Suryavanshi was a sincere child. He didn’t talk much. When he used to come to the academy for practice, 95% of the children were older than him. Didn’t talk to them. Vaibhav’s father also used to come often during training, so he was afraid of him and spoke less. On the ground, I would hardly have heard anything other than YES/NO from his mouth.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi likes to hit sixes and fours since childhood.

Actually, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was of a very shy nature and was not in the habit of asking questions. But while sharing the story of his childhood, the coach told that once Vaibhav had expressed his feelings to him. He told that, Vaibhav Suryavanshi started hitting big shots from the very beginning. Used to score runs only with sixes and fours.

So we explained to him that in future you have to play 4-day matches, so there you will have to play 2250 balls in 4 days, so you cannot just hit sixes and fours there. There you will have to defend along with hitting sixes and fours. So on this Vaibhav said that, when I can hit sixes-fours on any ball, then why should I take a single-double on it.

Whose place can Vaibhav play in the playing-11?

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has got a chance in the Indian cricket team. Now in such a situation, there is a question in the corridors of cricket whether he will get a chance in the playing-11 or he will have to wait for his turn. On this, childhood coach Manish Ojha said, see when he started playing IPL, some people talked to me about the fact that Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Sanju Samson open for Rajasthan Royals.

Even then I had said that great players make their own path and they will come ahead of their potential with their performance. In such a situation, now the management will have to think whose place he will play in Team India, but it is certain that he will definitely get a place. Such players are not born to sit. They are born to deliver.

Vaibhav was ready at the age of ten

The coach recalled the incident from his childhood, when he realized that Vaibhav Suryavanshi was ready to play at the big level. The coach told that a match was going on in the academy, then Vaibhav came there, so I told him that he should also play this match. Then when he started batting, I again sat and started watching him. While there were many senior players in the opposition team, Vaibhav was batting fearlessly.

At that time he would have been ten and ten and a half years old, whereas the players of the opposite team were from Under-19 group and were also from Ranji Trophy. Among them, Vaibhav had scored 118 runs on 93 balls. At least 7-8 long sixes were hit that day. Then I also canceled my practice session and started sitting and watching his match. His father was also there when he got out and started returning, then I told his father that now he is ready to play cricket at a big level.

What do Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s brothers do?

Childhood coach Manish Ojha further said that Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s elder brother is studying and his younger brother is also studying now. They are not being given any professional training. In such a situation, it would not be wrong to say that Vaibhav’s father recognized his talent at an early age and got him admitted to the training academy at an early age.
