Smartphone Update- The phone is keeping an eye on you every moment, make these settings immediately

Friends, in today’s modern era, smartphones have become an important part of our lives, apart from making calls and sending messages, they help us find directions, order food, book cabs, do online shopping and stay connected on social media. But what phone users do not know is that many apps continuously collect data about their location – even when they are not in use. But you can get rid of it by changing some settings-

Why do apps need location access?

Navigation apps use your location to show you directions.

Ride-hailing services need this to identify pickup and drop-off locations.

Weather apps rely on location data to provide information about nearby weather.

While these are legitimate uses, the problem arises when apps that don’t actually need location access continue to track users in the background.

How companies use your location data

Many social media, shopping, and advertising apps continue to collect location information even when they are not in use. With the help of this data, companies do the following:

Creating comprehensive user profiles.

Understanding shopping and travel habits.

Delivering ads to exactly the right people.

Analyzing customer behavior based on locations visited.

Common mistake made by most users

Whenever a new app is installed, it often asks for permission to access the device’s location. In a hurry, many users choose options like “Always allow” or “Allow all the time” without thinking.

Once permission is granted, these permissions often remain on forever, allowing apps to continue collecting location data in the background.

How to Stop Location Tracking on Android

Open Settings.

Tap on Location.

Select App Location Permissions.

View a list of apps with location access.

You’ll typically see these permission categories:

always allow

Allow only while using the app

do not allow

For apps that don’t need location access all the time, change the setting to “Allow only while using the app” or remove the permission altogether.

You can also go to the Privacy Dashboard to see which apps have recently accessed your location. How iPhone users can limit location access

If you’re using an iPhone:

Open Settings.

Go to Privacy & Security.

Tap on Location Services.

Select an app and adjust its location permissions.

Available options include:

Always

While Using the App

Never

Apple also provides a Precise Location feature. By turning this off, apps can only access your approximate location instead of your exact location, which provides another layer of protection to your privacy.

Review app permissions regularly

After installing new apps.

After updating your operating system.

After resetting the device’s settings.

If a flashlight app, a simple game, a calculator, or a shopping app constantly asks for location access, consider whether that permission is really necessary.

Not just privacy: more benefits

Better privacy and security.

Better battery life.

Less usage of mobile data.

Less targeted advertising.

More control over your personal information.
