Big blow to Indian archery, Asian Games gold medalist Prathamesh Javkar banned for 2 years
New Delhi: Archer Prathamesh Javkar, who won gold medal in the compound team event at the Asian Games, has accepted the two-year ban imposed on him for not reporting his whereabouts thrice last year, the International Testing Agency (ITA) said. Prathamesh was part of the gold medal-winning trio in the compound team event at the 2022 Asiad that also included Ojas Praveen Deotale and Abhishek Verma. He had made the mistake of not providing information about his whereabouts thrice within 12 months. He was not included in the 12-member Indian archery squad for the Asian Games to be held in Japan in September-October.
Prathamesh Javkar failed in dope test
“The ITA reports that archer Prathamesh Samadhan Javakar has accepted the results determined for his ADRV under Article 2.4 of the World Archery Anti-Doping Rules,” the ITA, which handles doping-related matters on behalf of World Archery, said in a statement.
“The athlete did not challenge the ADRV and accepted the punishment recommended by the ITA,” it said. In this way the matter was resolved by accepting the punishment.

According to this, “The period of ineligibility of the athlete is from 19 April 2026 to 18 April 2028.” Apart from this, after October 1, 2025, all the individual competitive results of the athlete have been invalidated, including medals, points and awards. This decision can be challenged in the Court of Arbitration for Sport by the parties having the right to appeal under Article 13.2.3 of the World Archery Anti-Doping Rules.
It is the responsibility of the players included in the ‘Registered Testing Pool’ (RTP) to inform their location daily and also to indicate a specific 60 minute time when they will be available for testing, which includes Prathamesh. Twenty-two-year-old Prathamesh had also won a gold medal each in the individual and team events at the Shanghai and Paris World Cups in 2023, respectively.
