Suryakumar Yadav’s ‘highly skilled’ post after losing T20I captaincy, India spot
Hours after being dropped from the India T20I squad, former captain Suryakumar Yadav on Saturday (June 6) reacted for the first time in a social media post.
The BCCI’s selection panel, led by Ajit Agarkar, on Saturday named Shreyas Iyer as India’s T20I skipper for the tours of Ireland and England.

India will travel to Ireland for two T20Is (June 26 and 28), followed by a five-match T20I series against England between July 1 and 11.
Shreyas has returned to the national T20 side for the first time since playing a match against Australia in Bengaluru on December 3, 2023.
What Suryakumar said
Suryakumar, who led India to T20 World Cup 2026 win in March, finds himself out of the team despite that triumph on home soil. Owing to poor batting form, the selection panel decided to remove him from captaincy and also from the squad.
Reacting for the first time after the sacking and dropping, Suryakumar decided to wish the team and termed the squad “highly skilled group”.
“Wishing this highly skilled group all the best for challenges ahead,” Suryakumar wrote on his Instagram story along with a photo of the India T20I squad.
He also spoke about 15-year-old wonderkid Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s maiden call-up to the Indian T20I line-up.
“You have earned it and how. Super excited to follow your journey,” he wrote.
At 15 years and 71 days old, Sooryavanshi becomes the youngest ever player to be picked in an Indian cricket squad, surpassing the long-standing record held by the great Sachin Tendulkar.
Sooryavanshi’s inclusion was a foregone conclusion after the 15-year-old bagged the Orange Cap in 2026, scoring 776 runs with a hundred and five fifties at a strike rate of 237.30.
