‘This is the new India, if you try to suppress it, it will backfire!’ Putin bluntly scolds America and Europe, says big thing for PM Modi
Russian President Vladimir Putin has once again praised the strength of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the global stage. In a very strong statement on Friday, Putin clearly said that under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, any attempt to put pressure on India through sanctions will completely backfire. He openly supported the strategic autonomy of New Delhi. Putin emphasized the most that all sovereign countries of the world should have complete freedom to choose their defense and economic partners, interference from any third country will not be tolerated.
Speaking during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), President Putin said that India has always followed its policies which are guided by its own national interests. This is the reason why India never backed down despite heavy pressure from external forces regarding its old and deep relations with Russia. Putin praised that India always acts with pride as a sovereign country, and under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, any possible threat of sanctions to India would immediately prove counterproductive.
Putin’s big revelation on Russia’s most dangerous Su-57 fighter jet
From this platform, Putin also made a big and interesting revelation about Russia’s most modern Su-57 fighter aircraft. He told that Russia had long ago proposed to start a joint program related to this fighter jet with India, but due to some reasons cooperation could not take place between the two countries. After this, Russia did not give up and developed this aircraft completely independently.
Praising this aircraft, Putin said that Su-57 is a very wonderful aircraft, which is probably the most modern and advanced fighter aircraft in the world to date. He further said that earlier we had offered to make it together, but it was not possible then. But now we have prepared it on our own and we are completely ready to sell Su-57 to India. According to the Russian leader, this aircraft is one of the best fighter aircraft currently in the army, which is capable of performing many dangerous roles single-handedly, including command and control.
Relations between the two countries are based on ‘unbreakable trust’, not just buying and selling.
Explaining the depth of defense relations between India and Russia, Putin described it as the most unique and special in the world. He said that the defense cooperation between the two countries is much broader than just buying and selling of ordinary goods or business transactions. Our relations with our Indian friends are special in the sense that there is an unwavering mutual trust on both sides. We do not just focus on selling readymade weapons, rather we are doing joint research and development on new technologies.
To strengthen his claim, Putin gave a brilliant example of the ‘BrahMos’ supersonic cruise missile program. He said that Indian and Russian scientists and experts have jointly developed this dangerous missile, which has today become an example of the most successful and historical defense cooperation between the two countries. He proudly said that Indian experts had participated shoulder to shoulder with Russian experts from the very beginning in preparing the design of this missile and the result of this coordination is present in the form of a magnificent missile in front of the whole world today.
