Himachal Pradesh: Open box of government jobs, policy to regularize occupations-2026 approved, read major decisions of Sukhu Cabinet
Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved the Policy-2026 for regularizing encroachments on government land. Many major decisions were taken in the meeting held on Saturday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. This policy has been designed keeping in mind the humanitarian concerns of landless families and marginal farmers who are in possession of government land for residential, agricultural and horticultural purposes. This policy, prepared as per the instructions of the Supreme Court, has now been sent to the Government of India for approval. The Cabinet also decided to reconsider the cases of compassionate appointment earlier rejected by various departments. The most reasonable rejected cases will be re-examined as a one-time special measure. Necessary relaxation will also be provided.
A decision has also been taken to start agricultural loan interest subsidy scheme for farmers. Farmers whose land is in danger of being auctioned will benefit from this. The state government will bear 50 percent of the interest liability on agricultural loans up to Rs 3 lakh of such eligible farmers. This will benefit 6,356 farmers of the state. Approval has been given to create and fill 400 posts of Work Inspector under the Recruitment Directorate. 300 posts of medical officers will be filled in the Health and Family Welfare Department. Approval has also been given to fill 250 posts of Class IV Multi Task Workers.
Approval has also been given for recruitment of 200 staff nurses in the Health and Family Welfare Department. Apart from this, 162 other posts will be filled in the same department. These include 76 Operation Theater Assistant, 36 Radiographer and 50 Lab Technician Grade-2 posts. 75 posts of assistant professors will be created and filled in various medical colleges of the state. Approval has been given to fill two posts of Assistant Professor and two posts of Senior Resident in the Cardiology Department of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College, Ner Chowk, Mandi. It was decided to give one-time special exemption to six nominated professors of Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur. This exemption is granted due to the period being 6 to 20 days less than the period required to become eligible.
Approval of new posts in Dehra Hospital and BMO office
12 posts of different categories will be created and filled in Civil Hospital Dehra of Kangra district. Approval has also been given to fill three posts in the Block Medical Officer Office, Dehra. It has been decided to fill 17 posts of Assistant Professors in various departments in Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. Employees going on study leave will now get full salary. Employees who had earlier taken study leave will also be paid the outstanding salary amount. Approval has been given to make part-time employees who have completed seven years of continuous service by March 31, 2026, as daily wage earners. It was also decided to provide 15 days paternity leave to job trainees. Approval has been given to create and fill three posts of different categories in the College of Horticulture and Forestry located at Neri in Hamirpur district. Two posts of Junior Office Assistant (IT) will be created in Divisional Commissioner Office Mandi. One post of Junior Office Assistant (IT) and one post of Multi Task Worker reserved for persons with disabilities will be filled in the Home Guard and Civil Defense Department. A new sub-division of the Public Works Department will be established at Chadhiyar through the reorganization of Baijnath and Beed sub-divisions of Kangra district. The Cabinet has also taken the decision to fill three posts of Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service.
Examination fee refund, self-employment scheme extension
Advertisements for 80 post codes issued by the erstwhile Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission, Hamirpur, will be withdrawn. Approval has been given to refund the examination fee of Rs 4.27 crore to the concerned candidates. Approval has been received to start the fourth phase of Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Startup Scheme. Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries will get 50 percent subsidy on purchasing e-bus and 30 percent subsidy on purchasing diesel bus. This will promote self-employment and strengthen public transport services. Amendment in Himachal Pradesh NDPS Rules 1989 has been approved. The cultivation, processing, manufacturing, storage and transportation of cannabis for medical and scientific purposes will be regulated. Special relief package has been approved for 15 fire affected families of Jubbal, Kotkhai and Rohru areas of Shimla district. Families whose houses have been completely destroyed will get financial assistance of Rs 7 lakh per family. A total assistance amount of Rs 84.70 lakh will be distributed.
Big relief to tractor operators, grazing policy-2026 approved
A Cabinet sub-committee will be constituted to consider centralizing and streamlining the recruitment process of multi-task workers in various departments. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri will preside over it. Approval has been given to reduce the compounding fee for tractors transporting minerals for domestic use from Rs 4,500 to Rs 500. This will provide great relief to tractor operators. Grazing Policy-2026 has also been approved. Forest Department and Animal Husbandry Department will jointly develop an online portal. With this, real time permits will be available to cattle herders and the rural economy will be strengthened. Under the Himcare scheme, it has been decided to operate the health insurance coverage under the insurance model. Eligible beneficiaries will now get health insurance cover up to Rs 7 lakh and up to Rs 10 lakh instead of Rs 5 lakh. The Cabinet has also approved the State Innovation Policy for Technical Educational Institutions. It aims to develop Himachal Pradesh as emerging hubs of innovation, entrepreneurship and start-ups. A provision of Rs 2 crore has been made for the implementation of this policy from the year 2026 to 2028. Approval has been given to grant lease of 40 years in favor of Himachal Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited for construction of 132/33 KV Sub Station at Patola and 220 KV Switching Sub Station at Kangaihan in Kangra District.
Sarkaghat hospital will have 150 beds, new posts will also be created
Approval has been given to increase the capacity of Civil Hospital Sarkaghat in Mandi district from 100 beds to 150 beds. For this, necessary posts will be created and filled. Civil Hospital Baddi will be upgraded to a 200 bedded hospital. Primary health center will open in Manpura of Solan district. Necessary posts will be created and filled for its operation. Approval has been given to open Primary Health Sub Center in Majheli of Hamirpur district. For its smooth functioning, necessary posts will be created and filled. The state level Shoolini fair of Solan district has been given national level status. Approval has been given to give the status of state level fair to Maa Shiv Shakti Jatar Fair located at Chhatrari in Chamba district and Shivratri Fair Kathgarh located at Indora in Kangra district. Approval has been given to give the status of district level fair to fair Nerti Rait of Kangra district, Baridhar fair Saryanj of Arki tehsil of Solan, Chhinj fair Garnota of Chamba and Nahvidhar fair of Karsog tehsil of Mandi.
Thakur Ramlal Girls Sports Hostel located at Jubbal in Shimla district will be upgraded to Thakur Ramlal Government Girls Sports School, Jubbal. 23 posts of different categories will be created and filled. Revised Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has also been approved to ensure smooth and effective implementation of Mukhyamantri Sahara Yojana. The Education Secretary also made a presentation before the Cabinet regarding CBSE schools.
