BCCI’s special provision for young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken an important decision for young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. 15-year-old Vaibhav has been included in the Indian squad for the T20 series against Ireland and England, and has been allowed to bring his parents or a family member along with him on the England tour.

The Board believes that for young players, who are going on an overseas tour with the senior Indian team for the first time, family support can be extremely important. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said that till now Vaibhav has been traveling with his peers, whereas the environment of the senior team is completely different. The company of family will provide them comfort in the new environment.

Saikia also said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the minor age of Vaibhav. If his family wishes to accompany him on the England tour, the Board will provide necessary assistance. Currently, Vaibhav is participating in the tri-series with the India A team in Sri Lanka, and his father is also scheduled to reach there soon.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s selection is a result of his recent excellent performances. He led India to the title by playing a brilliant inning of 175 runs against England in the Under-19 World Cup final. Subsequently, playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026, he scored 776 runs in 16 matches and won several individual awards including the Orange Cap.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar has also praised Vaibhav’s talent, saying that the young batsman has earned a place in the team based on his performances. According to him, Vaibhav’s performance in pressure-packed matches at a young age has been exceptional and he has the ability to change the course of the match.

Now the eyes of cricket lovers are on whether Vaibhav Suryavanshi Senior will be able to write another memorable chapter of his career while playing for the Indian team. This decision of BCCI also shows that the board is giving importance to the talent of its young players as well as their personal and emotional development.
