Salary 6000 and Rs 2 crore cash found at home… Vigilance raid at Odisha engineer’s house

Knews Desk- As part of the campaign being run against corruption in Odisha, the Vigilance Department has taken major action by raiding several locations of an Assistant Engineer. During the investigation, officials have recovered around Rs 2 crore in cash and a large amount of documents related to property. After this recovery, investigation has been intensified in the case of disproportionate assets of the engineer.

The Vigilance Department had received a complaint about the engineer having assets much more than his known income. After this special teams conducted simultaneous raids at his residence, office and other related places. During the operation, a huge amount of cash was recovered from the house, to count which the help of bank officials and note counting machines had to be taken. The investigating agencies have also found documents related to many plots, houses and investments. Authorities believe the engineer may have acquired a large amount of property while on the job. However, investigation of all documents and financial transactions is still going on.

According to vigilance officials, the recovered properties are being evaluated and the engineer will also be questioned. The investigation will find out what is the source of such huge amount of money and wealth and whether any other person or network has a role in it.

Action has been taken against several government officials in Odisha in recent years in disproportionate assets cases. This latest raid is also being considered as a major action by the government and investigating agencies against corruption. Further legal action will be taken after the investigation is completed.
