Big statement by Nepali Foreign Minister, said- Nepal wants to resolve the border dispute with India with an open heart.

New Delhi. Nepal Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal on Sunday said Kathmandu wants to resolve the border dispute with India through diplomacy as no problem is too big if both sides sit together with “open hearts”. Khanal said Nepal’s new government does not view India from a “distorted, hypersensitive perspective of 21st century geopolitics” but wants to build a mutually beneficial relationship for the overall prosperity of both the countries.

The Nepali Foreign Minister’s comments came a day after his wide-ranging talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Khanal began a three-day visit to India on Friday aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, but the visit was overshadowed by Nepali Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s recent comments on the border dispute between the two sides. Speaking to reporters, Khanal said, “When we sit with an open mind, no problem is too big and no limit is too complex.”

Khanal praised India’s economic growth

“We look at India with an open heart, a clear vision and a transparent agenda – the economic transformation of Nepal,” he said. “Instead of indulging in ultra-nationalist approach, we are adopting a calm and data-based approach to resolve issues,” Khanal said. He also praised India’s economic growth.

“When we look across the border, we see a rising India – an India that has fundamentally and beautifully redefined itself as a dynamic, fast-growing technology and economic powerhouse on the global stage,” Khanal said. “We want to engage with an India that is ambitious and full of cutting-edge technology,” Khanal said.
